Poem-Ruth Chapter 2

Grace in the Field of Boaz

A Poem Inspired by Ruth Chapter 2

At Bethlehem beneath the morning sun,
Young Ruth prepared for work to be begun.
With faithful heart, she sought the fields of grain,
To gather food and ease Naomi’s pain.

She did not know the path that lay ahead,
Or where she would receive their daily bread.
But God was guiding every step she made,
And led her to a field where grace was laid.

The field belonged to Boaz, kind and true,
A man of God in everything he’d do.
He heard how Ruth had left her native land,
To care for Naomi with a loving hand.

He said, “Stay here and gather with my own;
Within my fields, you will not be alone.
No man shall harm you—work without alarm;
Beneath the wings of God, you’re safe from harm.”

Then Ruth bowed down, amazed by grace so free:
“Why show such favour to a soul like me?”
For she had come a stranger to that place,
Yet Boaz welcomed her with love and grace.

He gave her food until her heart was filled,
And told his men to leave more in the field.
They dropped some extra barley on the ground,
So everywhere she looked, provision could be found.

She carried home the blessings of that day,
And told Naomi all along the way.
When Boaz’s name was spoken in her ear,
Naomi’s heart was filled with hope and cheer.

“Our God is kind; He has not passed us by!
He sees our needs and hears the widow’s cry.
For Boaz is a kinsman of our own—
The Lord has shown that we are not alone.”

Like Ruth, we may not see what lies ahead,
Or know from where we’ll find our daily bread.
But God directs the footsteps of His own,
And walks beside us—we are not alone.

And Boaz points us to our Saviour’s love,
Our great Redeemer sent from Heaven above.
For Jesus saw us lost in sin and shame,
Then paid our debt and called us by our name.

So trust the Lord when life appears unclear;
His guiding hand is always drawing near.
What looks like chance is often Heaven’s plan—
Our faithful God provides as no one can.

“The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.” — Ruth 2:12
