Poem- Psalm 121

My Help Comes from the Lord

Inspired by Psalm 121

I lift my eyes towards the hills,
Beyond my fears, beyond my ills;
My help comes from the Lord above,
Who holds His children in His love.

He made the heavens, earth, and sea,
Yet bends to hear a prayer from me;
Though steep the path my feet must tread,
His faithful hand will guide ahead.

My Keeper neither sleeps nor rests;
He knows the burdens in our breasts.
When darkness falls and shadows creep,
His watchful care is strong and deep.

The Lord stands near through every day,
A shelter on the weary way;
Beneath His shade my soul finds rest,
Within His care my life is blessed.

Through blazing noon or darkest night,
I am remembered in His sight;
When fears arise and courage fails,
His steadfast love and care prevail.

Though storms may come and tears may flow,
Though grief may follow where I go,
His love will hold me through the pain,
And give me strength to rise again.

He keeps my soul through every test;
In Him my troubled heart can rest.
No evil has the final say,
For God will lead me all the way.

My going out, my coming in,
Each daily task, each step within,
I place beneath His faithful care,
And find His mercy waiting there.

From this day forth, for evermore,
Through every trial, to heaven’s shore,
My song shall rise, my heart record:
My help comes from the living Lord.
