Glad to Worship, Ready for Peace
Poem inspired by Psalm 122
For GeorgePoem.com
“I’m glad,” my grateful heart will say,
“Let’s seek the house of God today.”
Together let our praises rise
To Him who hears our humble cries.
Within Jerusalem we stand,
Where tribes have come from every land;
Their voices join in thankful song,
To praise the Lord to whom they belong.
Pray for her peace, her people’s rest,
That every troubled home be blessed;
May justice flourish, hatred cease,
And wounded hearts find lasting peace.
Yet let our prayers become our deeds,
As we attend to others’ needs;
A listening ear, a helping hand
Can bring the care that God has planned.
Let bitter words give way to grace,
And kindness shine upon each face;
Give us the courage to do right,
And bring what harms into the light.
For brothers, sisters, neighbours dear,
May love draw close when grief is near;
Where lonely souls have wept unseen,
Let patient care bring hope again.
O Lord, let worship shape each day,
And guide the words we choose to say;
May all we do, and all we give,
Show forth Your love in how we live.
With joyful hearts, Your name we praise;
With willing hands, we serve always.
For love of You, let quarrels cease—
And make us faithful workers for peace.
